Your logs are yours, and the app will hand them over in a format you can open in anything. No account, no request form, no waiting on me.
Making a backup
- Open No Treat Today and tap Settings — the gear at the top right of Today.
- Scroll to 🗃 Uncooked Data.
- Tap Backup now.
That writes a file named after the moment you tapped — an ISO timestamp, so the files sort themselves — and Available backups opens to show every one you have made, newest first. The number beside it is how many are stored.
Getting the file off your phone
Tap any dated row and the share sheet opens. From there you can save it to Files, drop it in iCloud Drive or Dropbox, AirDrop it to a Mac, or mail it to yourself. Nothing leaves the device until you pick a destination.
To clear out old ones, swipe a row and delete. The backups live inside the app, so deleting the app deletes them too — move anything you care about somewhere else first.
What is in the file
Pretty-printed JSON, indented so you can read it without tooling: your days, your goals, and your apes. Open it in a text editor, load it into a spreadsheet or a notebook, feed it to whatever you like. There is no schema document — the key names are the field names, and they say what they are.
Reading a backup back in
You can’t, in No Treat Today. There is no Import button, and unlike No Meat
Today the app doesn’t offer itself in the share sheet when you tap a .json
file — so treat these backups as an archive you keep, not as a restore you can
run.
Moving to a new phone doesn’t need one anyway: iCloud carries your history across on its own, as long as the app is enabled in your iCloud settings on both devices.
If something looks wrong
Send me the file. Write to me from inside the app and attach it — that message already carries your app version and device, which is usually enough for me to spot what happened.
